Abstract: In the summer of 392 A D Eugenius was proclaimed as an emperor on the western throne, in front of the eastern emperor Theodosius. But the latter considered it a violation of the legal legitimacy. He considered that he is the legal legitimacy, because he married "Galla", sister of the deceased emperor "Valentinian II". Theodosius led his army on this basis and defeated Eugenius and killed him in September 394 AD.
Zosimus, a fifth-century historian, presented these events extensively in his New History. Zosimus was critical and objective. This was not seen in the sources of the fourth and fifth centuries AD, which dealt with the events in a dumped view of emotion and religious bias.
